There’s a moment when you’re sick when a line is drawn in the sand; a line is drawn across your life. On one side of the line lies the life you once had. On the other side sits your future. That line was drawn for me last week. And it came in the form of […]
What kind of posts can you expect here?
This is a lifestyle blog about being middle aged so you’ll find health topics relevant to ageing. There won’t be mention of any of those fierce aggressive workouts that have been making ladies pee their pants (literally) and fad diets that cut out whole food groups in a bid to shed pounds.
Think more holistically: mental and emotional health as well as physical health. Personally, I practice yoga but I’ve got injuries and I’ve had surgeries and honestly don’t see the benefit (or safety) of being able to fold yourself like a pretzel. Not at our age. But I do generally feel better once I’ve been on my mat and I do meditate. It helps with the anxiety and bouts of depression and general life stress. As does eating cake and drinking tea with my friends.
If there aren’t any posts here yet, don’t worry – they’ll be pouring onto the page soon. This is a fairly new blog and I’m adding new posts regularly. More will be landing imminently.

How The Fu@k Do I Meditate?
I learned to meditate the hard way. One of those 10 day retreats that involved silence and a bed made of concrete and a room infested with ants and a bucket for bathing; in India, of course. As the days progressed, we were moved out of the communal meditation hall into to our own, private […]
10 Self-Help Books I Wish I’d Read Sooner
I read self-help books. There. I said it. Yet, before I wrote that, there were several iterations of that intro that included me justifying why I regularly read self-help books. You know, claims that I’m ‘normal’ (whatever that means) and just ‘interested’ in some topics or ‘I read very widely’. You know the lines. You […]
God, I’m Tired – Pandemic Fatigue
God, I’m tired. I was supposed to sit down and finish a post about the best self-development books I’ve ever read (that post is coming) but I woke late and groggy. I woke after a night of dreams, chasing a woman in a nurses’ outfit (no, not that kind of nurses’ outfit) around an airport trying to […]
